Your Role:
Database Engineer III – Oracle and SQL Server

You will perform and manage tasks related to the operation, support, administration, optimization, and maintenance of USAC-owned databases and database tools.

Responsibilities include:
Supporting of production and non-production Oracle databases including correcting issues reported in production systems, supporting routine/ad-hoc change requests, creating documentation, implementing and monitoring daily/nightly maintenance jobs, and monitoring/diagnosing/responding to system failures

Leading efforts to analyze and improve system performance, including reducing any system downtime and eliminating recurrence of any problems and formulating back-up procedures for all company databases

Leading the team in providing technical support for any database-related performance or access issue

Generating ad-hoc and routine reports and defining metrics for database health and performance

Administering, maintaining, developing and implementing policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of company databases

Performing or affecting the performance of all Oracle applications installations, application patches, and planned upgrades

Implementing data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes

Resolving database performance, capacity, replication, and other database issues

Performing database-related development as dictated by departmental or project demands

Designing and performing data migrations and transformations as required by application delivery teams or business customers

Developing and maintaining documentation, diagrams, and procedures while complying with company’s change management control process

Ensuring that all database designs adhere to industry best practices and working with application delivery teams during design phase

Possessing expert knowledge about application and database performance profiles of all databases under management

Representing the IT department in terms of database expertise in coordination with other departments

About You:
You have 7 or more years of database administration experience using Oracle 10g/11g, ASM, and SQL Server 2005/2008 R2

You’ve gained 7 or more years of experience with database characteristics such as table design, relationships, data partition, efficient indexes, storage allocation, capacity planning and other attributes

You also have 7 or more years of experience in performance tuning and load testing of databases

You’ve reviewed, written, debugged, and tuned PL/SQL & T-SQL code for 5 or more years

You have 5 or more years of experience with Linux/Unix platforms, Linux Shell scripting, TOAD, and Erwin

You have 5 or more years of experience designing databases and development such as stored procedures, triggers, views and other similar attributes

You have 5 or more years of experience with Oracle Dataguard (preferably Active Dataguard), Grid Control, and RMAN

You’ve spent 5 or more years of your career troubleshooting complex technical issues and leveraging your knowledge of database security concepts

You have 3 or more years of experience with high availability database and application architectures

You possess and can leverage your Oracle Certified Professional Certification

You possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and/or university (preferably Computer Science, Information Technology)

You can prepare and deliver information in a concise, professional written format, using it to present to staff in formal settings

You use your excellent interpersonal skills to work in teams, directing and coordinating projects, in an effort to develop, document, and enforce increasingly effective ideas, approaches, methods and procedures

You are an analytical thinker who can make informed decisions quickly and manage multiple work streams

The following skills are desired:
You are Oracle 10g/11g certified

You possess SQL Server certification

You have experience with clustered Oracle databases and high availability architectures

You have previous experience with Microsoft Visio, Erwin Data Modeling, and TOAD

You have experience with agile software development such as SCRUM and XP
