Database Service Delivery Manager
This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Service Operations and Delivery. The Service Operations and Delivery organization is responsible for managing production service delivery provided by IBM, our operations and administration service partner. Client has about 1500 Oracle databases, over 400 of which are production and managed by IBM. We also have a significant footprint on SQL Server, DB2 UDB, DB2 Mainframe, and various Mainframe databases like M204, IMS, IDMS, etc. Our Database Services organization, which owns and supports the development environments and provides Application DBA services to the various application development teams, provides direction to the IBM Production DBAs.
As a Service Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the IBM DBA team delivers the production database services, including monitoring, managing and measuring the effectiveness of the database services, and providing an escalation point for any production issues. Use experience from providing 24x7 production support for databases to ensure DBAs are effectively managing the environment. Experience Level: 10 Years +. At least 5 years Management experience managing DBA teams or services, with at least some experience with managing outsourced resources. Skill Set: Background in Oracle Database Administration preferred, DB2 and/or SQL Server Database Administration a plus. Vendor management and strong communication skills highly desired.

Work with client DBA team and IBM DBA team to resolve interteam issues
Monitor and measure IBM DBA service delivery and provide technical guidance and leadership to help them improve their service.
Provide leadership and best practice consulting to both client and IBM DBA teams in the areas of database monitoring, tuning, proactive database management, automation of DBA tasks, backup and recovery, database design and configuration and other technical disciplines
Provide consulting, support and technical leadership for critical database incidents in support of availability objectives.
Work with the database teams to review, implement, and report on key metrics through OEM Grid Control and other database monitoring tools.

Stage of the project
This is a back-fill assignment for SDM promoted to new assignment.
BS degree with extensive experience (10 years, min 5 years Management or Team Leadership experience), MBA or MIS or equivalent experience preferred.
