The Dean, Continuing Education is responsible for developing and administering the total non-curriculum outreach division of Pitt Community College. The Dean assesses community needs for educational opportunities, develops programs, designs strategies for implementation, and creates within the community an awareness of programs and services offered by the College. The Dean is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering the Institutional Effectiveness Plans for the Continuing Education Division and formulates and administers College policies pertaining to operational procedures for accountability in non-curriculum programs, including interpreting specific operational rules and policies of state and federal agencies that are pertinent for Adult Education Programs.
The Dean supervises all personnel in the Division, including assigning, planning, and reviewing work; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; allocating personnel; acting on employee issues; selecting new employees; and approving transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions, discharges, and salary increases. The Dean collects and maintains or prepares various documents and reports including effectiveness plan, response to audit, statistical analyses, grant proposals and reports, and quarterly/annual reports.
The Dean is responsible for developing, documenting, allocating, and closely monitoring the budget of the Division and the individual Continuing Education programs. The Dean promotes articulation and partnerships between the College and secondary/post-secondary schools; business/industry, health/community service organizations; city, county, and state government, and other community organizations as needed. The Dean maintains an active liaison with the College's curriculum programs and serves as a member of senior administration in planning and decision- making for the College.
Master's degree in adult education, educational leadership, or community college administration/management, doctorate preferred.
Minimum of ten years of instructing, management, and program development experience in Continuing Education; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Superior written/ verbal communication skills; strong organizational, coordination, supervisory, and human relations
skills, efficient and accurate record keeping and reporting practices; sound, informed, and reasonable judgment.
Thorough knowledge of the methods, policies, and procedures associated with Continuing Education and Workforce Development.

Salary commensurate with experience and education background within college’s pay range
