Park University seeks applicants for the position of Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Deans primarily perform administrative duties of an academic nature and are the senior academic officer of their respective academic units. Deans fulfill the key leadership role in working with Department Chairs, Program Coordinators, and faculty members to accomplish the goals of the School or College, which serve the mission the University.
Assuring the quality and relevance of academic programs within the College/School;
Developing new in demand programs to advance the mission of the University;
Establishing and implementing strategic plans for the College/School and providing leadership to Chairs and faculty to help achieve stated goals;
Seeking community support for the College/School’s programs through advisory councils, fundraising, and civic engagement; hiring, orientation, development, and evaluation of faculty;
Establishing and meeting student recruitment, retention, and enrollment targets; managing the resources and personnel of the College/School effectively; and,
Communicating and collaborating with other Schools to promote the good of the University.
A successful candidate must possess:
A terminal degree in one of the disciplines represented within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences;
Demonstrated administrative experience at the level of Department Chair or higher;
A record of scholarship, service, and civic engagement;
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills;
Excellent managerial, leadership abilities;
Experience forming partnerships and alliances;
Experience with budgeting and resource allocation; and,
Experience with Strategic Planning
