Dean, Grove School of Engineering

The City College of New York (CCNY) seeks an exceptional individual to serve as its next Dean of the Grove School of Engineering. As the chief academic officer for the School of Engineering, the Dean will set the standard for intellectual engagement and accomplishment and provide strategic and operational leadership to all aspects of the academic and scholarly programs. In concert with the faculty, the Dean will be responsible for student success and faculty recruitment, retention, and diversity and will also promote a strong research agenda for faculty and oversee the establishment of new disciplinary and interdisciplinary programs.

CCNY is a comprehensive teaching, research, and service institution dedicated to accessibility and excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. Long the flagship campus of the City University of New York public university system with over 16,000 students and about 600 full-time faculty, CCNY provides its diverse student body opportunities to achieve academically, creatively and professionally in the liberal arts and sciences and in professional fields such as engineering, education, architecture, and biomedical education. CCNY’s Grove School of Engineering is truly unique — as the first public institution of its kind, it remains today as the most diverse school of engineering in the country and awards a full complement of degrees including B.E., B.S., M.E., M.S., M.I.S., and Ph.D.

The successful candidate will be an energetic, self-assured academic leader and scholar of stature, able to inspire faculty and students with a sense of pride and purpose, serve as an innovative leader to grow and build high quality programs, and provide a dedicated and established commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education. The Dean will be a visionary in helping the School to realize its academic and scholarly mission, to engage its distinguished alumni and local community, and to guide the School to new levels of achievement and renown. Candidates must have an earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree with a record of distinguished scholarship, research, and teaching, suitable for appointment as a tenured full professor. S/he must also have significant administrative experience.
