A. Leadership/Management/Administration

1. Directs primary program responsibilities for the department, makes recommendations regarding hiring, retention, promotion, and tenure of faculty members as well as serves as Search Committee Chair and participates in student recruitment initiatives
2. Organizes, develops, supervises, coordinates, and evaluates academic programs and assists with grant development
3. Supervises and conducts employee evaluations in accordance with college policies, procedures and bargaining unit agreements
4. Ensures that class schedules, office hours, and student advising schedules reflect a student-centered environment
5. Encourages innovation in the application of instructional technology
6. Maintains appropriate competency in contemporary computer technology
7. Performs other duties as assigned (ME)

B. Financial Accountability

1. Prepares, develops and administers operating budget, in consultation with school faculty, including developing a cost effective plan for the College that will be documented in the planning documents
2. Develops expansion plans for faculty members/lecturers, space, equipment and partnerships that extend beyond the next fiscal year

C. Public Relations/Communications

1. Serves as an ambassador for the College, within other areas of the College and the community at off-campus school meetings
2. Promotes College and department

’s mission and goals by utilizing advisory committees and other outside contacts 3. Develops, promotes and implements College’s articulation agreements with other colleges and universities through the appropriate college departments D. Professional Development 1. Develops and maintains appropriate interaction and meets with faculty members to assist them as they proceed through the tenure process 2. Initiates and implements personal, faculty, and support staff professional development plans and activities 3. Develops and maintains appropriate interaction with individual department faculty and support staff to evaluate and improve performance 4. Reviews academic program areas for effectiveness and implements continuous improvement efforts in designated program areas Salary Range: $70,000 to $90,000 per year Required Qualifications: A. Master’s degree in a discipline from a regionally accredited institution related to the department curriculum
B. Five (5) years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate degree
B. One (1) year Teaching experience at the community college level

The Dean for the School of Social Science and Human Services is normally employed on a twelve-month basis. Compensation and benefits are in accordance with the Non Affiliated Handbook and pertinent Board of Trustees policies. Regular, prompt attendance is considered an essential job responsibility.
