Richard Bland College of the College of William & Mary is currently seeking a qualified Dean of Faculty who will serve as chief academic officer with the primary responsibility for faculty leadership, the advancement of student learning in the liberal arts tradition, and student success in accordance with the College's mission and strategic plan. In addition to teaching at least one course per semester, this new member of the President's administrative team will manage a robust continuous improvement system in academics, one that is focused on student learning outcomes and aligned with SACS guidelines. The Dean of Faculty will recruit, support, and evaluate all faculty, managing, in partnership with Human Resources, an effective faculty development program. Additionally, the Dean of Faculty will be an effective budget manager, will work effectively within College's policies and procedures, and will utilize the shared governance structure to advance academic and institutional needs and priorities that are in line with the College's strategic plan. This position reports directly to the President, and the major responsibilities include:
- Supervise all matters relating to curriculum and instruction of the College, including scheduling and innovative educational programming and delivery
- Oversee development and implementation of academic strategic planning
- Oversee the development , review, and assessment of student learning outcomes
- Oversee faculty and academic staff recruitment and development programming and activities
- Provide academic input to student enrollment management (SEM) efforts
- Coordinate periodic academic program review and work with Division Chairs in the review, study, and development of curriculum and in the continuous improvement of instruction and student learning outcomes
- Participate on faculty committees pertaining to curriculum and instruction, as appropriate

Minimum Qualifications
- Earned Doctorate from an accredited college or university
- 5 years' experience as a faculty member
- Demonstrated supervisory experience and a record of progressive experience in academic administration in a higher education setting
- Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative style
- Demonstrated experience in utilizing and advancing innovative educational delivery techniques
- Enthusiastic commitment to the Richard Bland College mission and vision
- Five years of administration/management experience in a higher education setting
- Strong project management, organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to draw conclusions, develop recommendations and clearly communicate both orally and in written communications

Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the minimum qualifications, the top-rated candidates will have the following:
- Significant experience at the level of Dean or above, including experience in the development and administration of curriculum, personnel, strategic planning, and the use of technology in higher education
- Demonstrated record of teaching excellence, service, and scholarship commensurate with that of a tenured professor
- Extensive background in implementing innovative education delivery techniques
