THIS POSITION PROVIDES GENERAL DENTAL CARE AND ORAL HYGIENE EDUCATION TO 1756 INMATE POPULATION. THE DENTIST WILL SUPERVISE THE AUXILIARY DENTAL STAFF, MONITOR THE INFECTION CONTROL PROGRAM, AND MANAGE THE OPERATIONS OF THE DENTAL CLINIC. THE HOURS OF OPERATION CAN BE FLEXIBLE AND THERE ARE NO ON CALL REQUIREMENTS.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

MUST HAVE THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF THE PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF GENERAL, PREVENTIVE AND APPLICABLE SPECIALTY DENTISTRY AND THE TECHNIQUES INVOLVED. APPLICANT MUST HAVE THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF STATE REGULATIONS, ORGANIZATIONAL POLICIES, DENTAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS AS WELL AS CONSIDERABLE KNOWLEDGE OF DENTAL ETHICS. INDIVIDUAL MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO SUPERVISE AND COORDINATE THE WORK OF THE DENTAL UNIT. SKILLS IN TREATING AND DIAGNOSIS OF DENTAL DISEASE AND INJURIES ARE ALSO REQUIRED THIS INDIVIDUAL MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO COOPERATE AND WORK CONSTRUCTIVELY WITH A WIDE RANGE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, AS WELL AS NON-HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, ADMINISTRATIVE AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS ARE NECESSARY.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of North Carolina and one year experience in the general practice of dentistry.
