Reporting to the Director, the Deputy Director is responsible for the ongoing operations of the Center. This includes managing the Center's Director-level staff, ensuring high quality work and appropriate coordination of work. It also includes establishing and maintaining a positive working environment and acting as a role model for employees and managers.The Deputy Director also frequently serves as a representative for the Center and for the Director, with external stakeholders (including policy makers and leaders of non-governmental organizations). In collaboration with the Director, the Deputy Director is responsible for sustaining existing business and relationships as well as for developing and establishing new business opportunities that are aligned with the Center's mission. The Deputy Dirctor will also serve as principal investigator of selected Center projects. Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
An advanced degree in public policy, health, legal, or related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Fifteen years or more of diverse and substantial experience in an executive or senior level position related to public or governmental policy development.
Successful track record of business development and/or resource diversification and mobilization with emphasis on public sector clients. Five years or more experience in this area preferred.
Expert communication skills, including ability to communicate strategically with policymakers, synthesize large amounts of information, create decision briefs and effectively communicate about politically sensitive issues.
Strong leadership skills, including ability to positively motivate personnel and ensure effective project management.
Ability to develop staff in effectively communicating with policy makers.
