To support the design and development of production connectors. This applies to new products as well as modifications and extensions to existing products.
1.Supports lead engineers in developing new connector designs and are involved in all phases required to bring connector concepts into production. Prepare presentation material for design reviews and customer meetings.
2.Creates 3D solid models and coordinates construction of model shop samples. Creates external customer models in the required format.
3.Creates suitable manufacturing and customer drawings that follow the Molex Drawing Standard and employs accepted GD&T methodology.
4.Prepares and follows engineering change requests (ECR) per document control procedures.
5.Interfaces with internal departments (manufacturing, quality, lab, sales and marketing) to ensure design objectives are met in a timely manner and assists by providing product information and engineering samples.
6.Develops the Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to help eliminate failures from the product. Perform tolerance stacks to support risk analysis.
7.Develops the design/product validation plan & report (DVP&R) by tying it into the TARs and DFMEA and perform engineering tests and submit product for qualification testing in the reliability lab. Work with team to find solutions to test failures.
8.Support department initiatives by working with other engineers to solve problems in the department and fulfill initiative requests from Engineering Management.
9.Supports current product with continuous improvement and supports resolution of customer issues by Quality or Engineering.
10.Understand, support, and contribute to Molex Total Quality Management (TQM), Quality (QS9000), and Environmental Management (ISO14000) Systems by following approved policies and procedures.
11.Performs other related duties as required by management.
Required: Associates degree in technical/engineering field or 2-5 years professional experience.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ME, EE, etc.)
WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Previous experience in an engineering environment (Internship/Co-op)
Required: CAD skills (2D or 3D)
Preferred: Previous experience with working in a team environment. Understanding of engineering analyses such as stress, strain and tolerances. Computer skills; experience with spreadsheets, presentation and word-processing software.
Required: Some travel, as necessary, may be required.
