  • Position Objectives:

    Designs, and develops the presentation layers (GUI components) and visualization tools for application systems and sub-systems. Performs and interprets functional specifications and module definitions to yield design and layout of major components. Works closely with systems analyst and lead applications engineer to interpret functional requirements, conducts task analysis and usability tests that drive GUI component development. Applies human factors principles using established Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) guidelines and object-oriented methodologies to ensure usability and standardization throughout product development. Participates in implementation of new features and components, and contributes to the products quality infrastructure as required for product releases.

    Description:

    Prefer Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Visual Arts, Graphic Design or a related field, and 3-5 years practical experience.

    Education and Experience:
    • Strong HTML, JavaScript and CSS experience.
    • Ability to design and develop presentation layers (GUI components) and visualization tools for application systems and sub-systems.
    • Ability to perform and interpret functional specifications and module definitions to yield design and layout of major components.
    • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks. Primarily jQuery.
    • Create rapid prototypes of interfaces to be used as a blueprint for content and technical development.
    • Knowledge/Experience with accessibility and usability issues.
    • Proficient with design/development tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Expression Studio.
    • Creating or editing images and graphics for website use.
    • Knowledge of programming platforms such as .NET, Coldfusion or PERL.
    • Some Experience with mobile development.
    • Must effectively work closely with systems analyst and lead applications engineer to interpret functional requirements and conduct task analysis/usability tests that drive GUI component development.
    • Ability to apply human-factors principles using established Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) guidelines and object-oriented methodologies to ensure usability and standardization throughout product development.
    • Skilled at participation in the implementation of new features and components, and contributes to the products quality infrastructure as required for product releases.
    • Creates macros, routines, and programs to help team members do their jobs more accurately and efficiently.
    • Documents all development activities to accommodate future maintenance.
    • Follows recommended practices for data protection and backup.
    • Available for overtime per project requirements.
    • Keeps abreast of the current developments in publishing technologies and software tools.
    • Produces documentation or services in accord with a pre-established schedule or plan.
    • Ability to work with little supervision.
