Eaton Corporation’s Power and Motion Control Division of Eaton Aerospace, has an opening for a Designer. The position is based in Jackson, MS.

The Jackson facility has approximately 500 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.

The Designer is responsible for part design and detail drawings of aerospace fluid power components. This individual supports engineering development projects, new business proposal activities, and sustaining engineering activities. A Designer is capable of interpreting design requirements from 2D sketches prepared by project/senior engineers and capable of producing 3D models utilizing Pro Engineer Wildfire 3.0 or higher. This person prepares fully detailed drawings that adhere to ASME Y14 standards. A Designer coordinates activities with project/senior engineers in accordance with project or proposal schedules and maintains configuration control of all 3D models and drawings using Eaton’s Product Lifecycle Management System. This person must maintain an attitude supportive of continuous improvement, teamwork, cooperation, respect, and integrity.

Primary Functions:
A. Create robust 3D models of machined components from redline markups, sketches, and/or verbal communication from project/senior engineers utilizing Pro Engineer Wildfire 3.0 or higher.
B. Create detail drawings of complex parts, subassemblies, assemblies, etc. utilizing Pro Engineer Wildfire 3.0 or higher while maintaining conformance to ASME Y14 standards.
C. Apply basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to detail drawings.

D. Import and export 3D models that are not native to Pro Engineer into existing designs as well as provide customers with Eaton’s 3D models that are compatible with other CAD software systems such as Catia, Solidworks, etc.
E. Utilize Eaton’s standard drawing/modeling templates when creating new drawings or models.
F. Strong understanding of Engineering Change Order (ECO) process and the ability to completely and accurately document ECO changes utilizing Engineering Change Notice (ECN) documentation
G. Effectively utilize Eaton’s Product Lifecycle Management System to maintain configuration control of all 3D models and drawings.
H. Collaborate with peers and managers to improve efficiency and reduce the cost of component development and detailing of components.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with Enovia and ASME Y14 standards.
• Familiarity with basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• 1-3 years of experience in the design of mechanical components.
• Basic knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes.
• Working knowledge of FEA (Failure Effects Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and software programs used in their assessment (ANSYS).
