University of Phoenix is looking to add a Designer to our Corporate Relations team. The team’s primary focus is supporting the development of academic partnerships with corporations, associations, and other B2B marketing initiatives that support their business objectives and maximize their investment in their workforce education and development. This group is called the Workforce Solutions (WFS) division.

The Designer is responsible for conceptualizing and implementing design solutions that meet marketing strategies. Designer will create design solutions, from concept to completion, in a wide range of graphic applications including: trade show booth graphics, brand identity, ads, brochures, flyers, direct mail pieces, emails and other collateral materials.

Reports to the Director, Corporate Relations. Develop concepts for ads, brochures, flyers, direct mail pieces, emails and other collateral materials.

Participate in kickoff meetings to gather information and clarify design issues.

Assists marketing team with brainstorming marketing and advertising concepts. Thinks creatively to produce new ideas and designs. Uses innovation to redefine designs.

Presents comps and visual solutions to internal clients and helps communicate strategies behind design ideas and executions.

Equally comfortable designing original concepts or using existing templates to create finished product.

Edits designs based on feedback from internal and external clients until final approval.

Ensures that designs are brand-compliant and stays current with the evolution of University brand guidelines.

Coordinates with outside agencies, art services, print vendors, stock photo houses, etc. Searches for appropriate stock photography, when necessary.

Understands and can produce final art files as necessary for each media required (print or electronic). Delivers files electronically to print vendors using FTP.

Meet all deadlines set by the Director, Corporate Relations. Produces accurate and high quality work.

Stays within budget for all pieces.

Maintains collateral archive.

Assists in other duties as assigned.

BA degree in graphic design preferred. A minimum of an associate degree in design or related field may be considered.

Minimum 3 years working experience as a Graphic Designer. Alternate career experience will be considered upon evaluation of portfolio.

Must be highly proficient with current versions of Macintosh, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office and familiar with a wide range of other design, FTP, web and multimedia software and applications.

Highly creative and imaginative with ability to develop concepts relevant to a primarily B2B audience.

Experience quoting and managing print jobs, as well as working with printers.

Organized and detail-oriented.

General marketing experience a plus.

Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects at once while meeting tight deadlines.

Excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally.

Great people skills, initiative, enthusiasm, and sense of humor are a must.

Minimal travel may be required.
Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally. Must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment. Incumbent must be able to lift 20 lbs., perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
