To support our goals in this area, we are seeking a Desktop Support Engineer for our San Diego office. The successful candidate will provide support to end users in the maintenance and problem resolution of hardware and software. They will also respond to incoming calls, email and employee requests for technical support. The Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for documenting, tracking and monitoring issues to ensure timely resolution and is responsible for creating and maintaining desktop images. This position will work with LAN Administrators as needed.
Primary responsibilities include:
Manage incoming employee requests (email, phone and in person) to resolve problems associated with the support of desktop hardware, images desktop application installation and desktop connectivity.
Manage user setup for LAN, AS/400 and Exchange mailboxes.
Document, track and monitor problem resolution ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with user.
Provide after-hours end user support.
Provide onsite facility maintenance as necessary.
Required skills, education, and experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (preferred).
PC hardware knowledge; strong diagnostic skills in software – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook), Win XP and SMS knowledge of AS400.
Strong customer service phone skills, strong interpersonal communication skills.
PBX knowledge a strong plus but not required.
Knowledge of Active Directory and Exchange a plus.
