Meetup is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to support the day-to-day technology needs of our NYC-based office. This person will be working on our Systems Operations Team and should be innovative and motivated to learn! Our office is a primarily Mac-based environment utilizing open source software.

You would be responsible for:

Supporting the technology needs of our NYC-based staff
Deploying new laptops and workstations
Managing the health of our existing laptops and workstations
Providing internal technical support
Assisting our Systems Engineers as needed
Learning all you can!

You should have experience with:

Mac OS X and Windows
Microsoft Office and other office suites (e.g. iWork, OpenOffice.org)
Configuring email clients like Apple Mail/Thunderbird
Google Apps
Networked printers and multifunction copiers
Basic A/V knowledge (e.g. projectors, microphones)
Physical components of a computer (both desktop and laptop, PC and Apple) and experience upgrading and replacing hardware components
Troubleshooting issues with applications and computers face to face with users

In addition, you should be able to lift 50 lb boxes containing computer equipment.

Big plus if you have:

Some familiarity with the Linux operating system: installing, getting around, and understanding of basic commands
Experience with VMware and/or other virtual machine applications/concepts
Familiarity with Wikis/Bugzilla
Experience with centralized anti-virus and electronic inventory systems
Software management applications (e.g. Munki, Chef)
