The area: Infrastructure Application Services

This new division is responsible for designing, building and operating the infrastructure that will support our managed services customers such as NYS DOT and the Research Foundation of SUNY. It will be responsible for managing and maintaining the new Cloudtricity environment, the planned desktop virtualization offering, and the new Oracle application environment, to cite a few. Similarly, Infrastructure Application Services will be responsible for and providing these same managed services to our nployees as customers of the managed services division, from networking to desktops, from active directory to unified communications and everything in between. The role: Desktop Support Specialist
As a Desktop Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing Level 1 technical support for hardware and software issues as related to desktop technology. You will provide excellent customer service while handling multiple requests spanning a variety of technologies. You will upgrade, install and support all necessary hardware and software.
- Install and configure PC/Laptop computers and application software as specified.
- Apply standard software images on desktops /laptop computers.
- Support meeting room technology
- Respond to and resolve desktop service requests and incidents, utilizing other resources, if necessary
- Document resolution to desktop issues, propose solutions to root cause problems
- Maintain hardware and software inventories
- Assist in hardware and software upgrades and patches
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
- 2+ years’ experience with desktop hardware, software and imaging
- Familiarity with common applications like Windows and Microsoft Office
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
