The Desktop Technician is responsible for providing support of all desktop and laptop (windows/mac) computers, swivel chair support for applications, printers and mobile devices, and VoIP communications.

Desktop, Laptop Configuration and Maintenance

  • Local environment is primarily Mac, with some Microsoft Windows systems
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, electronically
  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues
  • Research questions using available information resources
  • Advise user on appropriate action
  • Follow standard help desk procedures
  • Log all help desk interactions
  • Administer help desk software
  • Redirect problems to appropriate resource
  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention
  • Track and route problems and requests and document resolutions
  • Document system configuration, inventory/assets, and network procedures
  • Manage onsite spares and new equipment
  • Provide VIP support as needed for onsite executives
  • Manage and maintain Domain Controllers and Active Directory
  • Implement patches for critical issues on servers, desktops and laptops
VoIP/Videoconferencing Support
  • Configure accounts on hosted VoIP system
  • Install and troubleshoot VoIP phones and peripherals
  • Support onsite videoconferencing equipment
Other Support
  • Provide remote hands support for onsite network and server infrastructure, including
  • Basic network cabling troubleshooting
Requirements
  • At least four years desktop support experience
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting Mac OS X and Apple peripherals
  • Experience with Mac OS X Lion and Mountain Lion
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting Windows XP/7 workstations and peripherals
  • Must be able to learn quickly and have very strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Office environment. No exposure to weather conditions.
  • Required to sit for long periods of time
  • Infrequent light physical effort required
