Major interdealer broker in Jersey City is seeking a full-time Desktop Systems Engineer who will provide systems and technical support. The ability to liaise with end users and quickly identify and implement solutions to their support issues is vital. The ideal candidate is a resilient team player who is goal-orientated and fully committed. They must be willing to explain, demonstrate and expand on own ideas.

Day in the Life:
Troubleshooting and resolving issues with Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 7 desktops
Troubleshooting and resolving application conflicts with in-house, 3rd party, java, web based, and Microsoft applications
Provide application installation and integration guidance to the Development Staff
Evaluate and recommend new midrange products for improving on in place procedures
Write scripts for parsing log files and other data
Provide Third Tier support
Gather requirements from business and create a technical plan for software distribution
Use Wise package studio or Install Shield - Professional Edition to complete a silent installation for deployment
Lead or participate in projects to enhance our ability to manage and reduce the overall costs of the midrange and distributed systems environment
Perform root cause analysis for application integration problems
Works closely with vendors to validate technology insertion, refresh and patch updates
Work in a team environment providing designing and troubleshooting expertise for complex desktop integrations of systems and applications.
Utilize configuration, release, change control management processes
Work with applications architects to ensure that new application designs fit into the midrange infrastructure and that operational controls are part of the initial design
Responsible for all Hardware and Software on all Desktops and Laptops
Write and Troubleshoot complex Scripts for automating desktop deployment
Responsible for operability, security, manageability, and functionality of all aspects of Windows desktops/notebooks and related devices
Support all Microsoft, third party and internally designed applications
Install and repair all pc hardware, laptops and peripherals Create and Deploy desktop images from scratch
Detailed documentation and precise communication with network and telecommunications support teams as required
Identify/Complete problem hand-off to appropriate area(s) of responsibility
Communicate with IT Support staff/management to discuss problem
Develop and maintain all necessary engineering documentation for both proposed and as built designs, Status, policies, procedures, and documentation.

What You Bring to the Team:
Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Internetworking Technology
MS Office and Exchange / Outlook Email applications
Antivirus, Spyware and Personal Firewall applications i.e. (Malware Bytes, SpyBot, Symantec Endpoint Protection, Checkpoint, or Kaspersky)
Desktop monitoring tools such as: Resource Monitor, Spotlight, Task Manger, or Performance Monitor
Deployment application software: Altiris Deployment Solution, Altiris CMS, Microsoft SCCM, NetInstall, or BMC
Packaging application: Windows Installer, WISE, or Install Shield
Scripting: Powershell, WSH, WMI, Batch, or VBScript
Knowledge of thin and remote clients: Devon IT, Wyse, or ClearCube
Knowledge of PCoIP: Teradichi, RDP, ICA, RDS, or VMWare View
Troubleshooting applications: Regmon, Filemon, or Dependency Walker) or any other application that will help troubleshoot integration problems
Vvirtualization environments: VMWare , RDS, MED-V, VDI, Virtual PC or Hyper-V
Application virtualization: App-V, Thin App, SWV, or Wise Virtual Package Editor
Knowledge of using Sharepoint for creating technical documents, lists, sites, and links for tasks and projects
Remote tools: PSTools, RDP, Teamviewer, PC Anywhere, or VNC
Knowledge of Active Directory, file shares and permissions, terminal server, print server, and group policies

Other Qualifications:
Associate/Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience
4 years IT Support
5 years experience with Windows2000, Windows XP, and Windows 7
Work flexible hours, holidays, weekends and occasionally extended hours
