Posting Job Description:
The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Oracle Developer for our TSG Department. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.

Essential Job Functions:
1.Review Oracle code submitted (and resubmitted) by vendor Teams to ensure adherence to TWC and/or industry best practices and standards.
2.Review vendor-submitted technical design documentation to ensure material is thorough, accurate, and complete.
3.Where code does not adhere to standards, describe refactoring steps needed to achieve compliancy.
4.Participate in high-level design reviews to ensure optimal application design to support functional, operational, and performance related requirements.
5.Review vendor software development life cycle processes and provide improvement suggestions where appropriate.
6.Serve as Oracle subject matter expert for TWC FTE development Team.
7.Participate in development efforts as an individual contributor as time allows.
8.Mentor/train Oracle developers as time allows.

Job Requirements:
Candidate must be able to analyze problems and solve them creatively, be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Candidate must demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills. Must develop a strong knowledge of products, features and services and how our customers use them. Needs the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize and complete specified tasks on time. Needs the ability to effectively interact and contribute to the management of technical relationships with on and off-site vendors, including offshore development teams. Candidate must have the ability to communicate status both orally and in written form effectively.

The Oracle Developer will work with application developers and architects to review system architecture, including researching new technologies and proof of concept projects. Attend project meetings and provide input to validate system design and development. The Oracle Developer will be expected to perform detailed code reviews and provide documentation summarizing review findings. When reviewed code doesn’t adhere to industry and/or TWC coding standards and/or best practices, the candidate must describe how to bring the reviewed code into compliance with these guidelines. Candidate will review refactored code to ensure all cited issues have been addressed.

As a member of the project team, the Developer will analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Consult with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware, software and networks; and operational and performance requirements of overall system.

Candidate must be able to successfully translate an interface specification into a program.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience developing Oracle applications.
  • Fluent in SQL and PLSQL. Mastery of best practices in both areas.
  • Expertise tuning SQL statements using the various tools provided by Oracle, eg tkprof, explain plans, autotrace, etc.
  • Deep understanding of physical data-modeling best practices, including index design, constraints, partitioning, etc.
  • Deep understanding of Oracle application architecture, incl. RAC, statement parsing, query optimizer, etc.
  • Familiar with new features of 11g database release.
  • Experience with data loading processes used with Oracle, eg SQL Loader.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
No Supervisory responsibilities with this position.
