About the Position :

The Development Associate reports to and provides support for a city Executive Director related to all aspects of Playworks’ Foundation and Corporate Partnerships, Public Funding and individual donor fundraising programs. Under the direction of a City Executive Director, plan, organize and coordinate fundraising activities, assist in research and drafting grant proposals, manage volunteer activities and manage in kind donations. This is a full-time non-exempt position that reports to a city Executive Director.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Participate in awareness building activities including community outreach and fundraising events, developing corporate sponsorships and stewardship of supporters
  • Maintain event time line, guest lists, registration materials, waivers, releases, evaluations and testimonials
  • Research and write foundation grants from corporate, government and other philanthropic organizations to be reviewed by the ED prior to submission
  • Responsible for site preparation prior to local funder’s site visits.
  • Support new relationships with potential constituents and stakeholders within the philanthropic community
  • Reach out to and promote relationships with community organizations and create partnerships that build awareness and support
  • Manage corporate volunteer relationships, including design and execution of large scale volunteer activities
  • Collaborate all city communications and messaging including, event solicitations and follow up; Maintain regular website updates and social media messaging
  • Major gifts/major donors -- send individual donors correspondence, invite them to events, and maintain constant communication
  • Manage in kind donations to include soliciting food and equipment vendors for food, drink and equipment donations for fundraising events
  • Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files
  • Support with training logistics and communication with training clients
  • Other duties as requested

  • Three (3) years sales or fundraising experience; nonprofit experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills; proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including exceptional attention to details and accuracy
  • Ability to handle ambiguity, juggle many tasks at once and quickly shift from one situation or task to another
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results; proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • High professional standards with the ability to see big picture and manage practical details
  • Organized with the ability to implement systems and appropriate follow-up
  • Ability to produce a quality product in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Flexible, can-do spirit with a customer service-orientation
  • Passionate commitment to Playworks’ mission and vision to improve outcomes for children and schools
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM preferred
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • A sense of humor and flexibility essential

  • This position may require travel to various locations:
    • If you use a vehicle, you must provide a current MVR, proof of liability and property damage insurance with a minimum of (100,000; 300,000) on vehicle used in addition to a valid drivers license
