Development Associate

In this critical role, we will rely on your keen eye for the details and exceptional organizational skills to assist in the creation, assembling, submission, reporting, acknowledging and tracking of all grants from foundations, corporations and individuals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects. In addition, you will have primary responsibility to maintain the fundraising portion of the Salesforce database, including developing and generating financial and contact reports and supporting staff use of the database for fundraising purposes. You will attend workshops on prospect research and assist in the compilation of prospect and donor research as appropriate.

  • Research potential grant makers and help to prioritize and evaluate prospects for corporate, foundation and government grants
  • Assist in the development of proposals: meet and work with program staff to elicit information on projects and programs that need support
  • Assist in the writing and preparations of proposals, budgets, reports and other ancillary materials
  • Arrange meetings and travel arrangements as necessary to achieve the goals of the department
  • Maintain proposal and reporting calendar, working with the Vice President, Resource Development to ensure that all proposals and reports are submitted on time
  • Assist in the preparation and timely submission of reports to funders
  • Manage existing grants by: tracking grants; developing internal reporting systems; maintaining excellent historical records; working with staff to ensure each project or program is meeting proposal conditions and expectations
  • Manage the database system for tracking funders, prospects, and other appropriate constituencies effectively and efficiently
  • Coordinate effort to complete, implement and regularly update, as necessary, a policy and procedures manual for development operations
  • Reconcile funder information, opportunity tracking and grants management data as entered in Salesforce with the HPN Administration and Finance Department
  • Oversee creation of fund raising reports, prospect profiles and other information necessary for donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
  • Facilitate †moves management† systems; manage all details necessary for others to execute fundraising strategies
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested
