This position is an integral addition to Kiva’s growing Development team with our first staff member located outside of San Francisco. The East Coast Development Director will be responsible for creating and expanding a fundraising and loan-raising program in the eastern region of the U.S. Targeting corporations, foundations, individuals and family foundations located on the East Coast, this newly created position will be charged with building a portfolio of donors and mega lenders, building awareness of Kiva in New York City and raising significant funds to support Kiva’s core operations and promotional lending programs. The position will report directly to the Chief Development Officer, located in San Francisco.
Create a comprehensive strategy to identify, cultivate and solicit corporations, foundations, individuals and family foundations in support of Kiva’s core operations and promotional lending programs.
Serve as the first point of contact and main liaison for donors and lenders located on the East Coast of the U.S.
Source and maintain relationships with 100-150 prospects with a goal of raising $500K+ annually in operating support, and $1.5MM+ annually in loan volume.
Explore unique loan funding opportunities through Program Related Investments, with family foundations, foundations and donor advised funds.
Coordinate an offline strategy to steward our “mega lenders” and donors on the East Coast, keeping them increasingly engaged and excited about Kiva.
Coordinate and support events on the East Coast, with the support of Kiva Lending Teams, to spread the word about Kiva.
Maintain Salesforce Database with accurate donor records and information.

Minimum three years non-profit development or for-profit sales experience in the New York market
Minimum 6 years work experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization
History of dedicated volunteer activity and/or commitment to non-profit organizations
Adept at using Excel and Word
Excellent interpersonal and writing skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Effectiveness in working or volunteering in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead
Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people
Detail oriented and extremely organized
Ability to travel nationally to visit with donors living on the East Coast of the U.S.
Flexibility and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and take initiative
