Job Description: The Development Director shall be responsible for diversifying the funding of Community Schools Collaboration. This position, with support from the Board of Directors and Leadership Team, shall be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fund development plan to support organizational programming and general operating costs.
This is a full-time, exempt position and reports directly to the Deputy Director. This position will supervise a .5FTE Communications Manager.
Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Major Gifts and Donor Development:
  • Identify, cultivate and secure major gifts from individuals through personal solicitations.
  • Provide strategy development, research and materials for board, staff and other volunteers.
  • Establish planned giving options and provide information for donors.
  • Facilitate development and maintenance of relationships with established and prospective funders and donors.
  • Establish a system for ongoing donor recognition.
  • Develop mailing solicitations targeting individual donors. Including selection, implementation, and maintenance of a donor database.
Grants Management:
  • Manage the process of researching, identifying, applying and submitting grant proposals.
  • Manage grants application calendar, prepare grant requests and ensure the quality and timely submission of all grants and follow-up reports.
  • Develop an annual timeline including renewals and new funding sources.
  • Coordinate grant writing contractual work as needed.
  • Arrange site visits with staff and funders as needed.
  • Work with program staff, evaluators and collaborating partners to write and submit grants in line with CSC’s strategic plan and in compliance with grant proposal parameters.
  • Report and track key development data (dashboard) and provide updates on development strategic plan for Board of Directors.
Special Events:
  • Develop fundraising events for the organization as an integral part of the overall fund development plan.
  • Coordinate all aspects of special events for fundraising and/or publicity purposes.
Public Relations:
  • Manage organization’s media relations, newsletter production, community relations, general information materials and event publicity to elevate the public image of CSC.
  • Work with leadership team to tell the story of CSC’s mission, vision and work through compelling marketing and fundraising materials, branding and information dissemination.
  • Work with leadership team to develop compelling electronic and written communications, including thank you letters, newsletters and annual reports.
  • Supervise .5 FTE Communications Manager.
  • Generate key fund development data for presentations & meetings.
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong experience in successful Fund cultivation.
  • Experience working with people of diverse ethnic, cultural, racial and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, Microsoft Access, and/or other development software is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams; innovative and passionate.
  • Knowledge and skills in the use of multi-media strategies; including the use of social media, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Motivated self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills and an exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills ability to prioritize multiple assignments in order to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances. Ability to problem-solve; adapt to changing priorities; communicate with diverse groups; maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve specific fundraising goals.
  • Computer proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commitment to children and youth, cultural competency, and educational equity.
