DESCRIPTION

Founded in 1996, Minority Development & Empowerment, Inc. has strived to become the leading organization in promoting a legacy of empowerment for Caribbean and other minority communities. MDE provides diverse programs and services to assist minority populations of Broward and Palm Beach counties into becoming self-sufficient members of the community.

DUTIES

Individual is responsible for overseeing of all aspects of the fund development program, including major gifts, foundation and corporate solicitations, fundraising events, planned giving, and grant writing. The Development Director will be responsible for all activities supporting fundraising growth, in collaboration with the Executive staff, for Minority, Development & Empowerment, Inc. (MDEI). Works with the Chief Executive Officer and contracted consultants to create annual fundraising event(s) and fund development activities as determined by the organizational objectives of MDEI. Must be detailed, goal oriented, energetic and demonstrate excellent verbal communication and written skills. This individual will create and build relationship with organizations and will market the organizations ideas and image. Other duties assigned.

Position Expectation: To raise a minimum o f $300,000 (three hundred thousand) funds within the 1st year of employment and to provide existing contracts with agency information for the purpose of securing future relationships and donations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelors' degree and a minimum of five (5) years experience in development/fundraising in the non-profit arena.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques & strategies. Nonprofit fundraising experience mandatory.
  • Grant writing experience.
  • Ability to write & communicate clear, structure, articulate and persuasive funding proposals.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, design, & presentation software programs.
  • Will create a development plan for the agency.
