We have an immediate need for a Development Officer on the West Coast to develop relationships with individuals with a capacity to become significant donors, so that the mission and ministry of MAF may be supported financially, as an essential part of the work of MAF so that the Gospel is proclaimed and Gods Kingdom is extended.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manages a limited portfolio of major donors and major gift prospects within an assigned region of the US
  • Develops relationships and raises major gifts through a structured program of personalized communications and visitation, as well as donor involvement through vision trips and field visits
  • Shares clearly articulated ministry opportunities needing major gifts, according to funding priorities and projects established by management
  • Plans all personal contacts and communications with each prospective donor in the assigned portfolio by reviewing giving history and profile supplied by the support office and/or database that includes giving potential, special interests and involvement. After each contact, records notes from visit and next step to be taken by the contact officer/support office
  • Obtains leads and referrals from existing and prospective donors
  • Evaluates giving potential, anticipates next opportunity and prepares for the next gift
  • Sends personalized reports to each donor, as appropriate and according to relationship development program
  • Tracks and follows the annual relationship development process for each donor in portfolio
  • Recommends and accompanies the CEO or VP on donor visits
  • Executes all components of relationship development for each donor in portfolio.
  • Communicates and coordinates with the support office
  • Enters in Raisers Edge notes and next steps after each meeting and phone call to donors; forwards to the support office for filing in donor files
  • Sends copies of all correspondence to the support office for recording and filing in donor files
  • Participates in monthly portfolio reviews with the Manager

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Experienced fundraiser, either for ministry support or through ministry partnership
  • Valid drivers license with a good driving record

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Committed to keep confidential personal and financial information about donors secure
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to travel by various transportation methods, within assigned territory, and possible international vision trips
  • Enthusiastic in presenting the evangelical ministry of MAF
  • Able to comfortably relate to high-net-worth individuals and develop interpersonal trust
  • Strong Christian faith and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ
Physical Requirements/work environment :
  • Active commitment to the mission, values, and doctrinal stance of MAF
  • Act in a manner that is Christ-honoring as well as Christ-like, demonstrating a personal Christian faith and witness in all interpersonal interactions
  • General office environment/equipment
  • Travel by various transportation methods, within assigned territory, and possible international vision trips
  • Must regularly lift and move 25 lbs
