The Development Officer is primarily responsible for developing relationships with donors and prospective donors and soliciting gifts of $1,000-$5,000. This person will cultivate and steward existing major donors and identify, cultivate, and steward new prospects to bring into the DoveLewis fold.
Strong communication and writing skills are crucial as this person will manage the administration of grants and foundation funding opportunities. The Development Officer is also responsible for managing and executing DoveLewis’ planned giving program (the Richard Warner Legacy Society) and the annual giving program.
The ideal candidate will have proven success in a fundraising capacity, particularly with soliciting and securing gifts from individuals, developing relationships with prospective donors, and increasing the number of individual donors and gifts. A genuine love of and respect of all animals, as well as a belief in the human-animal bond are essential.
• Experience or education equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in fundraising, non-profit management, business, sales, marketing or related field of study.
• Minimum of three years of successful experience in major gifts development and and/or donor acquisition.
• Proven track record of achieving revenue targets.
• Experience managing a fundraising board.
