MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform experiments and record data
Follow research protocols.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments.
Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data.
Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel.
Reproduction and evaluation of techniques and results for accuracy. Application of standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluation of innovative techniques. Assist in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
Troubleshooting and correction of erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment. Reproduction and evaluation of techniques and results for accuracy.
Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
Maintain cell cultures.
Operate standard laboratory equipment. Use and maintenance
of laboratory equipment appropriately. Responds to obviously erroneous results or problems with equipment.
Assists in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness. Provides appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.).
Effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to relate to diverse age and demographic backgrounds.
Capability for understanding and following verbal and written instructions. High clerical accuracy, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and independent work initiative.
Computer literate with working knowledge of software applications (word processing, spreadsheet, and database).
Analytical ability sufficient to compare data; mathematical ability sufficient to perform algebraic calculations and statistical analysis.
Ability to operate laboratory equipment. Knowledge of Scientific Terminology. Capable of meeting time demands necessary to execute experiments.
Able to identify mistakes and discuss resolution plan.
Attention to the veracity of results.
Will not Relocate Candidates.
Bachelor’s degree in related
OR Associate’s Degree in a specialized scientific discipline (i.e., Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology) and two years experience at a Research Assistant I level or equivalent/similar role
OR High School Diploma or equivalent and at least four years related experience. Alternatively, if the prior or current Principal Investigator can document extraordinary contributions of the applicant that demonstrates an equivalent level of expertise, this will be considered.
Research laboratory experience with exposure to laboratory procedures, likely including instrumentation, tissue culture, and animal handling.
