Anchorage, Ship Ave Shop

$25.00- $27.00, DOE

SUMMARY: Skilled mechanical postition that performs scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to trucks (light and heavy), dry vans, tankers, flatbeds, specailty trailers, and other equipement. This includes, but is not limited to, brakes, tires, lights, suspension, rear ends, clutches, electrical, minor engine repair, product pumps, diaphram pumps and gear pumps, exhaust repairs. Some Vaccum truck experience desirable as well as pressure washers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES: Duties and responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot, Diagnose, Repair, Clean & Install equipment on trucks, trailers and specialty equipment
  • Road test equipment to detect and analyze mechanical problems
  • Interpret Driver Vehicle inspection Reports and repair accordingly
  • Respond to road side calls as needed
  • Fill out and maintain vehicle records according to CFR 49 Parts 392, 393 & 396.
  • Stay current with maintenance standards from CFR 49 regulations
  • Interact with manufactures, stay current on standards and latest technology
  • Experience with Hydralic and air brake systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform basic repairs and maintenance
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others
  • Adhere to safety practices and procedures
  • Perform basic math
  • Able to read, legibly write, speak and understand the English language
  • Minimum 5 years experience preferable with a fleet
  • Airbrake Certified
  • Basic welding skills a plus
  • At least 25 years of age for insurance purposes
  • Valid Alaska Class A Driver’s License preferred
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the past 3 years
  • No DUI, reckless driving, speeding or felonie convictions
  • Pass drug and alcohol check
  • Pass background check
  • Work with computer instrumentation
  • Work with a high degree of independence
  • Must have own tools
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other persons
  • Demonstrate a consistant and reliable work ethic by adhereing to work schedules and utilizing time efficiently in order complete assigned tasks within defined deadlines
  • Accomplish assigned tasks with minimual supervision and adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistant with a self-starter such as finding work to do between direct assignments, follow through with tasks, and take ownership and pride in work performed
  • Relate exceptionally well to staff at all levels
  • Exhibit a high level of integrity, honesty and professionalism in all activities and situations
