Pilot Logistics Services is a multi-state fuel and oil distributor that primarily delivers fuels and oils to both the wholesale and retail markets. We have terminals in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Oklahoma. Our CDL truck drivers in these areas are responsible to safely haul refined fuels and oils from the pick up point to our customers and/or to our bulk and warehouse facilities. Our mechanics are responsible for the proper repair and maintenance of our truck fleet, warehouse and yard equipment, pumps, and facilities equipment.
The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the trucks and facilities and coordinating all required repairs.
The following are essential job functions:
Maintain inventory of parts necessary to perform job (i.e., bulbs, gloves, fittings, etc.).
Evaluate poor running trucks and insures their proper repair.
Provide regular maintenance of facility and all equipment.
Review vehicle inspection reports and insure all repairs will be made.
Perform all required DOT and CHP services and inspections. Keep up-to-date truck files and ensure that the Company is in compliance with all regulations.
Keep fleet in compliance with all DOT and CHP regulations.
Ensure that trucks are always in a safe operating condition.
Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Able to apply concepts of basic algebra.
High school diploma or GED.
Associate's Degree preferred.
Mechanic certification preferred (air brake adjustment, etc.)
Class A license.
5+ years of progressively responsible experience in similar role.
Mechanics that have a Class A CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements and a current DOT medical card are preferred, but not necessary. Also, prefer at least one year heavy duty truck mechanic experience. Must have: own tools; no felonies in past 10 years, no misdemeanors in last 5 years; no DUI's in last 7 years, no more than 2 moving violations on MVR. Must be: eligible to work in the United States; able to work in all weather conditions; able and willing to work long hours including day and night shifts; able to safely climb ladders and walk on top of truck and facility tanks; able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods; able to lift 50 to 100 lbs; able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
