DESCRIPTION

Conducts clinical assessments of the dietary needs of the residents and recommends diet planning according to the Physician Plan of Care. Responsible for menu planning, evaluating ways to meet resident requests and needs. Attends resident staffing with other members of the health care team. Presents inservice programs to dietary staff, nursing staff and other staff as appropriate. Completes documentation in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

DUTIES

Provides nutritional assessment, evaluation, interpretation and education to meet the needs of the resident and maintains confidentiality of all resident care information and assures resident rights are protected at all times. Maintains timely accurate written documents / records and reviews and revises care plans as changes occur to reflect condition of the resident.

Assists in establishing a nutrition program for residents by taking histories, reviewing of medical records and resident interviewing as part of the total care plan.

Participates in the resident staffings.

Assists in monitoring the meal service in the dining rooms, making recommendations for improvement as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have current registration as a Dietitian by the Commission of Dietetic registration of the American Dietetic Association.

Must demonstrate comprehension and current knowledge of nutrition, dietetics and nursing home food service management.

Must have the ability to effectively and efficiently work with employees and residents.

Must maintain certification / registration by completing required number of continuing education credits.
