Digital Account Executive
The Digital Account Executive will manage assigned account list and meet revenue goals. Oversee all aspects of client businesses and serve as the key company contact for client relationships within their assigned region. They will work with assigned clients and agencies to maximize digital advertising revenue across the Interactive One local online network of properties (which includes all radio station websites owned by Radio One nationwide, Interactive One Universe including BlackPlanet, BlackPlanet Radio, TheGrio.com, UrbanDaily, HelloBeautiful, Elev8, News One, BlackDoctor.org, & GiantLife and other digital properties and platforms) with a focus on the Interactive One local platform. Ideal candidates will have an understanding of digital and mobile advertising with a clear understanding of local digital advertisers and clients. They will be on top of shifting media trends and how the web is impacting marketplaces and companies’ business models. They will demonstrate an ability to think creatively, sell strategically, and communicate effectively internally and externally.
Identify new client and opportunities, prospecting, pursuing leads and developing new client relationships.
Effectively and aggressively manage all aspects of the sales cycle.
Establish a pipeline of business and maintain an accurate forecast in Salesforce.com.
Negotiate contracts and closing opportunities.
Effectively monitor online inventory and current pricing.
Submit weekly/monthly sales forecasts.
Regularly manage agency/client relationships.
Regularly report advertising sales revenue and CPM analysis in relations to RFPs.
Provide leadership to support resources.
Participate in industry events and conferences.
Our portfolio of websites must be accessible to clients 24/7; therefore evening and/or weekend may be required from time to time. This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven role.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
2-4 years of online ad sales experience with a leading Web Portal or leading content publisher.
An additional 2-4 years of traditional media sales or marketing experience -- print, broadcast, cable, etc.
Ability to work independently, while being open to directions and guidance.
Intelligent, motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and work ethic.
Creative, marketing-oriented media seller with a passion for what the Internet can bring to blue-chip advertisers.
Excellent written, communication skills, negotiation, persuasion, closing, presentation and follow up skills.
Strong relationship building and partnering skills.
Ability to travel throughout the U.S.
Prior experience working with an African American product a plus.
Experience with a “community” or social networking publisher a plus.
Experience in a start-up environment.
Proven track record of closing large custom deals.
Ability to generate and manage $2mm+ in revenue.
Good analytical skills in both understanding marketer’s objectives and analyzing campaign performance.
Demonstrated ability to perform all related job responsibilities.
Score of “recommended” on CSS Advertising Sales Interview Profile.
Either currently living in the market identified for his/her regional headquarters or willing to relocate there.
Proven track record of digital sales success.
Demonstrable characteristics of a self-starter including, but not limited to, being self-directed, taking initiative, being accountable, having problem-solving and decision-making skills and having the ability to operate with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain agency/client relationships.
Knowledge of Interactive One and Interactive One Local properties, platforms and advertising capabilities.
