Job Title: Digital Communications Manager
Reports to: Director of Targeted Communications
Location: Boston

PIH has programs in Haiti, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Peru, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Russia, and Navajo Nation.

Overall Responsibilities:

The Digital Communications Manager is responsible for the architecture and engineering of our on-line presence and is a key member of the team responsible for PIH's digital outreach and conversion strategy and implementation. The Digital Communications Manager has primary responsibility for the organization's content management system, online advertising and search engine optimization, and serves as internal consultant on website content and design, helping to craft the optimal mix of messaging and actions to drive engagement.

Specific Responsibilities:

Digital Engagement Strategy
  • Develops integrated strategies for reaching and engaging new supporters, working as a key member of the Communications/Development team
  • Works closely with PIH's digital agency and PIH colleagues to manage the process and deliverables from the brainstorming stage to budget approval and implementation of campaigns
Digital Channel Planning and Optimization
  • Creates and manages strategies for increasing awareness and maximizing conversions from web, mobile, and online advertising
  • Manages digital agencies to set and achieve goals for website, paid search, natural search, display, mobile, and online advertising performance
  • Manages the web development vendor in the testing and implementation of new website functionality and improvements in UI and optimization
  • Identifies emerging digital opportunities and develops strategies for adding them to online communications plans
  • Performs analysis of channel conversion and ROI to make recommendations and implements strategies for improvement
  • Manages creation and delivery of reports and dashboards, working with key stakeholders to ensure data is meaningful, insightful and actionable
  • Manages technical implementation of web pages, microsites, and online forms
Search Engine Optimization
  • Identifies priority keywords based on feedback from Development and Communications teams and analysis of PIH’s ranking
  • Monitors industry developments and best practices and audits existing content to help team boost page rankings
Google Adwords
  • Monitors Adwords performance and ROI
  • Works with vendor to generate ad content
  • Works with vendor to conduct tests and explore new ad formats/channels
Knowledge Center
  • Manages technology needs of the Partners In Health Knowledge Center
  • Assists in developing editorial plan and calendar, communications plan
  • Coordinates with Development Department in incorporating registrants into fundraising stream
Digital Content Generation
  • As needed, develops original content for website and social media channels
  • Develops content as necessary for SEO and optimization purposes

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent communications skills; minimum of four years of digital channel experience in a communications or fundraising role
  • Experience with content management systems, email fundraising, digital applications, and web development
  • Experience with digital and social media analytics including Google Analytics
  • Strong understanding of search engine technology, strategies and tactics, including enterprise search engine optimization, local search, and mobile search optimization
  • Proven ability to take initiative while working as part of a team -- assessing priorities, managing many activities simultaneously, and meeting deadlines with attention to detail and quality
  • Digital design skill are a plus
  • Interest in and commitment to global health and social justice
