The Digital Content and Social Media Coordinator supports PetSmart Charities owned and earned digital strategies by producing and publishing web and social media content.
This role is responsible for maintaining the organization's day-to-day presence on existing social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube along with developing strategies to expand the organization's presence on key emerging social media channels. He or she also manages outreach to key influencers, including web and social media influencers, brand advocates, animal welfare partners and PetSmart employees. The Digital Content and Social Media Coordinator also produces all possible forms of digital content, including copy, imagery, graphics, video, and audio, with oversight by the Manager of Social Media & Online Communications.
-Produce all possible forms of digital content, including web and social media copy, imagery, graphics, video, and audio.
-Rapidly produce high-quality copy for both the web and social media that consistently reflects the organization's writing guidelines.
-Ensure copy reflects search engine optimization strategy.
-Produce and source high-quality, creative imagery for distribution on both web and social media channels. Coordinate with marketing to ensure imagery and graphics reflect the organization's brand guidelines.
-Capture, produce and publish short video and audio content for rapid distribution via PetSmart Charities‘ social media channels.
-Ensure content carries over into mobile sites and applications, as necessary.
-Maintain the organization's day-to-day presence on existing social media channels including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Causes.com, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and StumbleUpon. Stay on top of trending topics and recommend adjustments in tactics as needed. Implement tactics for both desktop and mobile applications.
-Implement PetSmart Charities online listening strategy. Coordinate all responses to questions and feedback on all social media channels within 24 hours. Report social media issue escalation and implement crisis communication as directed via social media. Consistently deliver reporting on overarching social media and community feedback and themes, including strategic recommendations based on learnings, to the Manager of Social Media & Online Communications.
-Drive earned media and organic brand advocacy by managing outreach to key influencers, including web and social media influencers, brand advocates, animal welfare partners and PetSmart employees. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure content establishes PetSmart Charities' subject matter experts as thought leaders in the animal welfare industry.
-Provide data to evaluate the effectiveness of PetSmart Charities' social media strategies. Identify key metrics and establish tracking and reporting mechanisms for all social media channels, including online engagement, reach and conversions to donations.
-Identify and develop strategies to expand the organization's presence on key emerging social media channels.
-Ensure all programs track to the online communications budget.
-Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, advertising, English/writing, online marketing, or similar field from a four-year college or university; minimum 4 years of writing for the Web and minimum 2 years in social media.
-Excellent writing and editing skills, including demonstrated ability to rapidly produce high-quality copy
-Strong background in social media strategy
-Strong background in public relations and knowledge of crisis communications
-Understanding of and experience in online video technologies and production standards
-Understanding of and experience in graphic design, including experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign); and both Microsoft and Apple products
-Demonstrates creativity and immersion in social media best practices and constantly explores new online technologies.
-Must be able to work individually on a project or in a team environment.
-Using strong organizational skills, has the ability to handle multiple projects while meeting daily deadlines; effectively communicates in a fast-paced environment and can deliver projects within established timeframes.
-Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills to maintain effective, positive professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and constituents
