The Digital Media Specialist will have oversight for the efficient management and processing of digital file based audio visual assets and their corresponding metadata utilizing department resources. The incumbent will design and implement workflows for the creation, tracking, archiving and distribution of these assets.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS

Designs workflows for the creation, reuse and management of digital media assets.

Sets Configurations in software/hardware to execute these workflows.

Manages and verifies asset ingest into media asset management system.

Trains all users (internal and external to department) on their roles in workflows.

Creates and oversees policies for metadata and taxonomy in digital asset management databases owned by Media Operations but used across the organization.

Collaborates with our distribution partners to ensure the timely creation and distribution of media for TV Everywhere/ Over The Top (TVE/OTT) titles and corresponding metadata.

Serves as project lead on development projects involving resources as needed from other departments and/or vendors.

Serve as a subject matter expert and provide end user support as needed for:

o Levels beyond - Reach Engine Studio media asset management system
o MediaBeacon - digital asset management system
o Filemaker pro - department databases
o Telestream - Vantage, Episode, Flipfactory, Pipeline
o Prime Image - Time Tailor
o Venera - Pulsar file based QC software
o XML authoring
o DVD authoring - various desktop software
o DVD publishing - Primera disc publishers
o Adobe Creative Suite apps - primarily Premiere Pro and Audition

Serves as first line of support and troubleshooting for digital workflows and equipment; securing resources and expertise from IT when necessary.

Acts as primary liaison between Media Operations and IT departments.

Recommends acquisitions that will improve the quality or efficiency of department output.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Minimum five (5) years experience managing digital assets in a post production environment.
Minimum five (5) years experience creating workflows in transcoding equipment, preferably products from Telestream.
Experience with Extensible Markup Language (XML) document creation and editing.
Prior experience and expertise with video and audio codecs and file types and their appropriate usage.

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS

Experience with the hardware and applications listed above.

Experience distributing digital assets and metadata to cable/satellite companies.

Ability to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions

Ability to organize and schedule work effectively

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment

Must have the desire to learn about new technology, think outside the box and display enthusiasm concerning creative alternatives

Must be team-oriented and have a collaborative work style with ability to build strong working relationships
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills; positive attitude
Strong Photoshop, After Effects, Sound design and music sweetening experience a plus
Prior cable or entertainment experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
