Title: Digital Media Specialist

St. John’s seeks a highly creative communicator to tell the story of our University through current and emerging multi-media tools. A team player that is able to plan, produce, and publish a variety of content representing St. John’s to our internal and external constituencies. This digital media professional will create rich multi-media content for the web and new media outlets using a variety of storytelling tools including web, video, sound, graphics, animation, and written content.
Reporting to the Director of Digital Communications, this position develops and maintains multimedia projects on the University Web site. Responsibilities include maintaining ongoing web-based multimedia projects, creating and maintaining web content and graphics, developing new strategic multimedia projects. Additional responsibilities would include acting as videographer and producer for select University projects, shooting and editing new content as it is conceived, converting media into various web-accessible formats, and building the supporting HTML pages.
Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience preferred conceptualizing and developing multi-media projects.
Experience in Web content development and Web content management systems.
Proficiency in digital film-making, including pre-production planning, lighting, audio and editing, and journalism and storytelling capability.
Demonstrated experience with editing software such as Final Cut Pro, Premier Pro and audio recording software.
Commitment to the role of higher education in society, sensitivity to the mission of higher education.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently while exercising appropriate judgment will be a key asset to this position. Experience in higher education desirable. Sense of humor a must.

This position is subject to a comprehensive background screen, with employment contingent upon satisfactory results. If access to a University vehicle is required for the position, a DMV check for driving record and valid driver's license is also required.
