  • High school graduate/equivalent, required.
  • Two to three year’s supervisory experience along with production in restaurant or institutional setting, preferred.
This position reports directly to the Director of Dining Services and combines both supervisory and production duties. In performance of duties, this position is entrusted to direct supervision of dining room and kitchen personnel. Schedules staff and ensures adequate coverage for all meals and events including vacations as approved. Ensure for adequate staffing due to emergencies and illnesses. Conduct performance reviews for dining room and kitchen staff in a timely manner recommending wage adjustment according to CRC Wage and Salary Scale. In cooperation with the Human Resources recruits quality staff and maintains personal contact with local schools and other places of potential recruitment. Train dining room staff in proper procedures and essentials of hospitality to meet Core Competency in accordance with Covenant Shores and CRC standards. Train kitchen staff in partnership with Executive Chef in proper procedures to meet Core Competency in accordance with Covenant Shores and CRC standards. Document disciplinary actions as appropriate and recommend terminations to the Director of Dining Services. Oversee operations of the dining room to ensure proper set up and smooth operation. Coordinate staffing assignments, reservation requests, takeout orders, table resets and supply restock during meal time. Ensure billing done in a timely manner. Ensure safety training is completed and staff has valid Food Handler’s Permits resulting in sanitary handling of all food. Ensure acceptable appearance of kitchen facilities at all times. Establish good relations with residents and staff. Handles complaints and reports them as appropriate. Documents and follows through with deficiencies. Ensure acceptable appearance of dining room at all times. Take inventory of dining room supplies. Provides information for monthly administrative reports. Understand and comply with Covenant Shores and Covenant Retirement Communities policies and procedures and interprets them to production staff.

This position further requires the ability to communicate both orally and written in English. The ability to use computer efficiently. The ability to work in close harmony with others especially with youth and with elderly. A high degree of personal cleanliness and hygiene are required. Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays. Reliable and punctual. The ability to remain calm and tactful under stress is required. Demonstration of understanding of Covenant Shores and Covenant Retirement Community mission statement.
