Dir of Planning & Alloc
Responsible for directing the Inventory Control and Planning function of GUESS. Supports the profitability of the organization by directing the development of long term product strategies. Ensures the viability of the company through the creation of strategies based upon market trends and sales analysis. Works closely with Production, Buying, Finance, and Retail Operations.
Works with Senior Management to proactively identify, develop and drive long-term strategies and initiatives that will result in profitable growth for the company with a focus on new opportunities. Develops long-term business, product and financial strategies based on analysis of marketplace or sales trends, cross-functional input, or senior management direction to achieve corporate long-term financial goals.
Directs the Strategy and Business Planning group including development and execution of business plan and total corporate OTB. Manages, in partnership with Financial Planning and Analysis group, the Business Planning process. Manages the identification and implementation of key initiatives including monitoring on-going progress. Analyzes product trends, historical data and channel input at divisional level. Develops seasonal strategies and finalizes financial targets at a divisional level. Provides direction to and receives input from Merchandise Managers (Wholesale & Retail) on department strategies and financial targets. Reviews product assortments, and provides feedback and direction. Reviews/approves plans at department, division and cross-divisional levels. Reviews final high-level placement strategy with Production. Ensures the financial success and inventory control of the business channels & merchandising divisions. Initiates and manages sharing of best practices across functional business areas. Serves as a liaison with business partners outside of Strategy and Business Planning at all levels. Initiates and maintains dialogue with field management (e.g. on sales, stock, etc.) to use in planning future seasons and to improve in-season management. Communicates cross-brand/channels by sharing information with counterparts, using relevant information as input for future assortments and strategies, and leading cross-functional meetings.
Develops and adheres to the inventory planning's budget. Monitors the department's budget looking for ways to improve profitability and cash flow.
Coaches and develops staff members. Manages and monitors development and performance of direct and indirect reports. Recruits talent and develops career paths to retain staff members. Manages conflicts and looks for solutions without compromising total position.
