Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 2:45pm-11pm
The Direct Care Counselor is responsible to assist in the oversight of the daily activities within the assigned program to maintain a milieu environment that is conducive to the goal of substance free living while assuring for the safety of the service recipients in the program.
Delivers assigned educational module groups (such as self-esteem) as required during the assigned shift.
Accurately maintains shift communication logs.
Accurately maintains service recipient records to reflect the individual's activities towards meeting their service goals.
Assists and participates in all regularly scheduled social recovery activities and services occurring during assigned shift.
Supports the peer driven social model within the milieu by empowering the service recipients in conflict resolution and decision-making.
Provides crisis intervention and mediation as required.
Ensure a clean and safe environment for clients.
Assists with the coordination of maintaining the program food and supply needs as required.
Makes recommendations to case manager or program manager to test urine when there is suspected drug use and if approved, collects sample from service recipient and processes according to the program procedure.
Process items in Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database (including tasks such as scanning and uploading files, and data entry).
Ensure a clean, safe and home-like environment for clients.
Remain alert at all times throughout scheduled work shift.
Participate in core training and maintain certification of required trainings (CPR/First Aid).
Attends and actively participates in supervision and staff meetings.
Ensure that individuals we support are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates Human Rights Policy.
Perform all duties in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures.\
Strictly follow all agency Performance Standards.
High school diploma/GED with minimum of one year experience in human services field. Knowledge of substance abuse services and residential supports.
Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Ability to communicate effectively including in writing and ability to use good judgment.
Ability to read English and communicate effectively in the primary language of the program to which he/she is assigned.
Must have sensitivity to the needs of the population.
High energy level and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
