We are conducting a search for a Director, AP Insight Production Management who will join the AP team for a 7- month term appointment at our headquarters in New York City. The term begins December 1, 2012 and ends June 30, 2012.

Position Summary

The Director, AP Insight Production Management is responsible for the management of the budget, schedule, content dashboard and process of the development of the AP Insight program. The Production Manager actively collaborates with AP Insight team members, specifically the Senior Director of AP Insight Program Design and Senior Director of AP Online Product Management, to ensure the timely production and delivery of a quality online program for AP teachers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Process Management

Responsible for production of AP Insight content, managing quality and timely delivery of all content assets (instructional resources, professional learning, program screen content, graphics, etc.)

Manages the project timeline and ensures that deliverables meet or exceed the program’s expectations

Responsible for managing budget, schedule, content dashboard, assigning work and resource planning, schedule meetings with writers and content experts

Leads communication to vendors and program team in providing updates, project status and deliverables

Manages and refines the design process, content creation, production and entry for both online and pdf files

Knowledge of digital content production, Agile project management, and content management

Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Adobe Pro and Content Management Systems

2. Editorial

Ensures online content meets requirements for completeness upon submission and for end user in terms of design and user interface

Make suggestions as to style and format of instructional resources and online content

Assist with UAT (pre-release error detection on AP Insight website)

File/folder management of all documents

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:
BA/BS degree plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in production management of online products or blended models of online and print materials, preferably in professional development, instructional materials, or assessment are required.

At least 5 years of experience in project management and cross-functional team management with accountability for deadlines and budget are required.

Related Skills and Experience:
Ability to manage a complex process and schedule with a high quantity of deliverables with a strong attention to detail

Willingness to engage in the content of the program in order to maintain a global, product perspective while managing the process details

Knowledge of the online content development process

Knowledge of web interface guidelines to maximize end user usability

Superior team collaboration and communications skills

Demonstrates flexibility in working on an iterative program and process

Initiative to recommend process improvements in order to build a scalable model of program content and delivery

Interested in working for a mission-oriented, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving education; exposure to the education field preferred

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
