USC's Athletics Compliance office is seeking a Director of Athletic Compliance. The Director, Athletic Compliance directly manages the NCAA/PAC-10 athletic compliance program for the University for assigned athletic teams (multiple teams will be assigned). Reports to the Provost and Faculty Athletic Representative through the Associate Provost for Athletic Compliance who is charged with management and reporting responsibilities for NCAA and PAC-10 compliance for the University. Job Accountabilities: Directly manages and supervises all compliance operations and administrative functions including: planning, program evaluation, policy implementation, rules interpretations, rules education, external representation, budget, contribution to the design and substance of the University's Athletic Compliance program, and policies and implementation for assigned athletic teams. Manages, organizes, implements, and maintains a comprehensive, in-depth, and effective athletic compliance program intended to support NCAA, Pac-10 and university rules and to prevent, detect and respond appropriately to violations of applicable athletic rules and regulations. Provides technical expertise to university staff members, coaches, student-athletes, parents of student-athletes and representatives of athletics interests regarding athletic compliance issues. Ensures implementation of all elements of an effective athletic compliance program. Fosters within the athletic compliance program a culture that promotes integrity and ethical behavior. Reports to the Vice President for Athletic Compliance through the Associate Vice President for Athletic Compliance. Participates in short and long range planning for athletic compliance program under the direction of the Vice President for Athletic Compliance. Integrates plans for assigned athletic teams of responsibility with overall departmental strategies. Works closely with department management to plan and develop athletic compliance program objectives and content. Develops, updates, and manages the dissemination, interpretation and application of athletic compliance rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Serves as in-house consultant on athletic compliance issues. Provides internal and external communications expertise for athletic compliance matters. Serves as a resource for questions regarding application and interpretation of NCAA and Pac-10 athletic rules. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. J.D. or Master's degree
Minimum Field of Expertise:
Directly related experience dealing with an athletic compliance program and/or rules/regulatory issues. Proven success in the implementation/management of an athletic compliance program. Experience investigating violations of NCAA and/or Pac-10 rules and regulations. Complete and working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively and tactfully with people at all levels. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated strong planning and critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
