We seek an energy-industry expert to seek out potential clients, explain our services, coordinate delivery of customized samples, write formal proposals, and transition new accounts to our product teams. Though a background in business development or sales is not required or even necessarily preferred, you must be comfortable thinking strategically, researching prospects extensively, picking up the phone to start conversations, present effectively, offer exceptional strategic and written sales skills; really love and “get” the news and other sources of open-source information, be a subject-matter expert in the energy sector and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
This position, which reports directly to the VP of Business Development, is a rare opportunity to join an established, profitable company.
Close new business in the energy sector (six-figure level contracts)
Excellent networking skills and the ability to identify key stakeholders
Foster relationships within key target accounts (in support of new business solely)
Establish detailed prospect requirements, timing, budget and process to close
Report on all relevant industry trends and competitive intelligence gathered from the field
Contribute new product ideas based on energy sector feedback and trends
Provide insights for energy sector-specific marketing strategies
Coordinate well with internal stake holders to prepare customized prototypes and proposals
Respond to and manage RFI and RFP opportunities
Use Salesforce to maintain accurate records of all opportunities, prospects and related activities
Deep knowledge of the Energy Industry via positions such as business development, sales, marketing, business intelligence, competitive intelligence, business analysis, financial-industry analyst, investor relations, corporate communications, etc.
Superb face-to-face and telephone presentation skills
Superior proposal writing skills and experience with responding to RFPs
Strong negotiation skills
Positive attitude, enthusiasm, high energy, sense of humor
Comfortable working in fast growing, rapidly changing environment
