The Director of Business Systems Analysis will be responsible for managing business analyses, workflow analyses, requirements definition, and QA testing activities for workflow projects. The position is responsible for the planning, organizing, developing, and controlling of the overall business specification for business systems. This position is the key interface to the business and IT in delivering the business direction for business and technology initiatives.

Responsibilities:
Work with customers on identifying appropriate technology solutions to business problems

Provide business direction for initiatives with the possibility of leading high complexity projects and teams

Gather/analyze business requirements and translate into functional specifications and system design specifications

Work with business users to determine scope and requirements for new projects and/or working with business users on issues/opportunities on existing applications/process

Identify and recommend alternative methods to meet business needs

Determine validity of business request and cost / benefit analysis

Lead engagements and analyze findings, presenting detailed evaluations and metrics to project managers, teams and senior management

Negotiate adoption of critical usability recommendations

Responsible for recognizing and communicating the effects and impact a system change will have on other areas of the business

Assist in developing QA test plans based on business requirements

Sets direction, develops and monitors individual objectives, and leads the team

Develop and maintain quality staff by hiring skilled personnel; developing succession plans; providing training opportunities, evaluating and managing performance, delegating responsibility; training and mentoring junior staff, and administering corporate policies.

Develop, monitor, and control (with the finance team) the unit's BAU and initiative budgets

Responsible for implementing efficiencies and best practices for the team. Represents the unit for the implementation of policies and programs (e.g., Career Path, Methodology, etc.)

Other required accountabilities:
Provides an industry perspective and improves business processes

Works with QA to develop testing strategies, plans and tasks

Provides relationship management role with business partners to establish program governance

Mentors business staff in understanding requirements management, software engineering process usability engineering process

Work with cross-functional teams to commit resource requirements over the lifecycle of the project

Participate in relationships with external vendors and/or consultancies for outsourced work

Assists in creation of project plan, budget and risks

Participate in or leads post- implementation reviews

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required; MS in Computer Science highly desirable

8+ years of related experience in business systems analysis with at least 3 years in a leadership position

Demonstrated ability to articulate business systems strategy

Strong conceptual knowledge of systems alignments, processes, data structures - bridging this information with business workflows and requirements

Financial services knowledge of business drivers, processes and information needs

Excellent communication and collaborative skills, with business and technical staff

Experience in translating and executing on a technology direction

Superior skills in delegating tasks, building trust and support with ability to develop staff and coach others

Comprehensive understanding of business processes and practices with superior knowledge of business systems

Demonstrates a creative, critical thinking approach to problem solving

Experience managing relationships with external vendors and/or consultancies for outsourced work

Experience establishing and enforcing process and procedures for running projects, tracking progress, and dealing with change and sign-offs

Experience mentoring and coaching on latest methodologies and understanding of the business

Mentoring business analysts, business subject matter experts and technical staff
