The incumbent will lead, oversee and manage cancer prevention and control programming within the Bureau of Chronic Disease Control, supervising and coordinating the work of unit managers who collectively coordinate the various components of cancer prevention, early detection and cancer survivorship initiatives. The incumbent will provide leadership in planning, goal setting and performance measurement; lead development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives; prepare and monitor programmatic, data and fiscal components to ensure state and federal funds are expended; and program functions are appropriate in accordance with state and federal guidelines. The Director will be a member of the Bureau Management Team and Division-wide Cancer Leadership Team, the latter of which is charged with overseeing and informing coordination of cancer program planning, implementation, evaluation and data reporting across cancer and chronic disease programs and, when appropriate, with key strategic partners within and outside of the Department. Other related duties as assigned.
A Masters degree in a health-related field and four years of experience with health program planning, implementation, and evaluation; OR a Bachelor's degree in that field and five years of the required experience; OR an Associate's degree in that field and seven years of the required experience; OR nine years of the required experience. At least three years of the required experience must have been as a program manager and/or as a supervisor of professional level staff.
Strong leadership, administrative (including budget development and fiscal management), supervisory and partner relations experience; a Masters degree in a health-related field; experience managing state expenditure plans and federal grants; experience in cancer prevention and control or related field; experience communicating best practices and compliance with evidence-based guidelines; experience with health systems change to improve clinical services; experience in the development, conduct and evaluation of public health policy and programming to prevent chronic disease; and/or experience developing, implementing and evaluating population-based strategies such as those outlined in the Guide to Community Preventive Services.
