The Cardiovascular Information Systems Director provides clinical and managerial leadership in establishing goals and priorities and in the overall management of current and planned CVIS applications, services, and related technologies throughout the HCA enterprise. Lead the development of strategies and tools to advance the cardiovascular clinical agenda. Assure appropriate alignment of evidence based improvement, growth, compliance, and technology advances from the Corporate Office. Establish goals and priorities in the overall clinical management of current and planned CVIS applications, services, and related technologies. Will be considered the subject matter expert for accreditations, structured reporting, and clinical workflow for non-invasive and invasive cardiovascular settings.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position is responsible for assisting with optimal clinical workflow for multi-site refreshes, new system implementations, consolidation/standardization and operational support of Cardiovascular Imaging systems.
  • The primary point for clinical contact for internal and external business sponsors and facility project team.
  • Directs the IT Cardiovascular Imaging System coordinator as the clinical workflow specialist.
  • Works with product/service leaders and physicians to ensure timing, resourcing and sequencing of work to meet customer operational needs.
  • Develops area goals, establishes work priorities, and administers financials related to the area.
  • Clinical contact must create and manage business/technical/clinical relationships with facilities, internal business stakeholders, internal IT&S relationships, and implementation-related vendors. Facilitates relationship between IT&S and division/market staff. Primary CVIS clinical contact for clinicians.
  • Applies performance improvement principles to cardiovascular programs and initiatives.
  • Routinely monitors process, structure, and outcomes of care for cardiovascular services with ability to compare and analyze with national benchmarking.
  • Maintains current knowledge of emerging cardiovascular research and clinical technologies within area of expertise.
  • Participates in HCA cardiovascular clinical council activities.
  • Monitor project activities and reports on status.
  • Represent the best interests of HCA while performing all aspects of vendor management.
  • Work autonomously to achieve goals as defined by management.
  • Develops short term strategies for cardiovascular programs that contribute to the longer term objectives supporting the Clinical Services Group Strategic Agenda.
  • Designs implementation of evidence based strategies in collaboration with corporate, division, and facility leaders for improving performance and growth of safe, effective, efficient and compassionate healthcare.
  • Applies performance improvement principles to cardiovascular programs and initiatives.
  • Routinely monitors process, structure, and outcomes of care for cardiovascular services with ability to compare and analyze with national benchmarking.
  • Maintains current knowledge of emerging cardiovascular research and clinical technologies within area of expertise.
  • Participates in HCA cardiovascular clinical council activities.
  • Becomes the subject matter expert for structured reporting certification requirements.
  • Create executive level summaries of project status to be shared with senior leadership

  • Qualifications
    • 5-10 years in non-invasive and/or invasive clinical cardiovascular care, including at least 2 years of leadership experience.
    • In depth, up-to-date knowledge of the financial environment of healthcare.
    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Previous experience with clinical performance improvement and change management initiatives required.
    • Recent experience with new CVIS installation is of value.
