Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The director career services is responsible for driving
outstanding employment rates and starting salaries for
Westwood College students and graduates. The director
drives the campus Career Services team and activities to
develop students’ skill in acquiring future career
opportunities. The director is responsible for building
and sustaining employer relationships with the focus of
obtaining employment opportunities for Westwood College
students and graduates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Meet and exceed established employment goals and
outcomes
  • Build strong relationships with employers through
networking, cold calling and in-person visits
for 50% of the week
  • Engage in business development efforts in the
acquisition of job leads and opportunities for
student and graduate employment with appropriate staring
salaries.
  • Set and manage the direction of Career Services, both
for the campus and for the Career
Services staff.
  • Hold on-campus events that bring employers to the
campus – Expo’s, networking events, employer visits,
speakers and interviews.
  • Be the face of the campus to the local business
community. Attend networking events, speak at
meetings and conferences, call on local employers to
build business relationships, and uncover career
opportunities (internships, jobs, etc.)
  • Ensure accurate management of student records and
submit required data and reports on a
timely basis
  • Ensure the Career Services office runs smoothly:
student employment needs are met,
students are registered with Career Services
  • Maintain a strong partnership and communication with
Academic Department including
Program Chairs to gain market knowledge and current
trends
  • Provide constructive and timely feedback to all Career
Services staff.
  • Resolve student concerns and departmental issues
  • Maintain contact and build relationships with alumni
  • Build synergies between on-campus departments so that
all on-campus staff works together
to help develop students for future career
opportunities.
  • Ensure staff has regular involvement with PDC 111 and
200 courses
  • Support the Education department with Program
Advisory Meetings (PAC) by inviting appropriate
employers to attend the meeting and following up
with employers to generate: on-campus speakers,
commencement speakers, internships, mentorships, job
shadow and job opportunities
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • Four plus years of work experience in outplacement
services, staffing recruitment, account
management, relationship sales, not for profit
management and/or for profit education career
services. Strong record of success achieving
quantifiable goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
with polished presentation skills and an
executive presence.
  • Ability to motivate, coach and provide candid feedback
to staff and students
  • Ability to build internal and external working
relationships, strong networking skills
  • Ability to work in a results-oriented, metrics driven
environment·
  • Analytical, strong spreadsheet and numerical skills
  • Able to function in a matrix environment
  • Understanding of the strategic sales management
process
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to travel frequently within the market to
local employers and events
  • Strength - occasionally moves/transports, lifts up
to 10 of pounds, installs, takes out, removes, and
replaces, positions, places, and transfers
  • Walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, – frequently
moves about or to, traverses
  • Reaching – occasionally detects, diagnoses,
installs, places, removes/replaces, operates,
adjusts, attaches, positions, sets up,
handles/tends, activates, feeds, controls, applies,
measures, uses, modifies, signals, inputs, drafts,
prepares.
  • Talking and/or hearing – frequently communicates,
detects, converses with, discerns, conveys,
expresses oneself, discusses, exchanges information.
  • Seeing – frequently detects, determines,
distinguishes, identifies, recognizes, perceives,
estimates, judges, discerns, inspects, compares,
observes, assesses. Attention to detail essential,
including proofreading documents and lines of text
and numbers. Visual discrimination.
