The salary range for this classification is: $3,635 - $11,624 per month.
This is a full-time management (MPP) position. MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.
This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
Candidates must pass a Live Scan (fingerprinting) background check as a requirement of employment.
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations works to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward institutional gifts of $10,000 or more from corporations and private foundations. The Director provides leadership and coordination to Colleges and University at California State University, Dominguez Hills in approaching corporations and private foundations for major gifts, working closely with administrators, deans and development colleagues and communicating actively with key stakeholders. Through collaboration, the Director cultivates relationships that will leverage and maximize corporate and private foundation giving. The Director relays appropriate funding opportunities to colleges and provides expertise to develop appropriate funding requests. The Director develops and implements fundraising strategies for a portfolio of institutional prospects and donors, and manages multi-unit opportunities directly. The Director manages the solicitation process, from identification and staffing the appropriate solicitation, to the preparation of compelling proposals (oral and written), to the long-term maintenance of effective relationships with funders. This position requires evening and weekend on-call responsibilities.
Minimum Employment Standards
Required Knowledge and Ability:
Experience in fundraising, proposal writing, and corporate and foundation relations;
excellent written and oral communication skills; must possess excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; must have a strong customer service orientation; must have demonstrated knowledge of sophisticated database program processing and administrative techniques; must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner. Ability to establish measurable fundraising goals and objectives and to develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies to achieve them. Experience or demonstrated aptitude to be successful in face-to-face solicitations, proposal writing, and corporate and foundation relations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team and must be able to work well across department lines. Computer skills necessary to perform job functions (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, fundraising database).
Experienc & Education:
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
Experience: Three to Five years of directly related work experience.
Preferred Experience: Five to seven years of directly related or comparable experience in donor relations or stewardship.
