The Director of Development & Presidential Events provides leadership, strategic direction, and management of event activities related to enhancing the relationship between the university, its donors and friends. This includes, but is not limited to, the planning and implementation of donor, alumni, development, campaign and Presidential events.
Experience may not be substituted for the education requirement.
Professional event planning work targeted at building the engagement of constituents, and management experience supervising an events staff or coordinating staff as part of managing large events.
Education may not be substituted for the experience requirement.
Must possess (or have the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire) and maintain a valid Texas driver's license with no more than three moving violations and/or at fault accidents within the past 36 months, and no convictions or deferred dispositions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past five years.

Capacity to multi-task; organizational skills such as an attention to detail, time management, system for setting and monitoring priorities and perseverance in order to meet deadlines; management skills to delegate work and supervise and coach direct reports; interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, to interact with diverse personalities and high-level university leaders and guests; ability to exercise mature, sound judgment; ability to manage last minute changes and problems that might occur at an event; strong working knowledge of personal computers including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software packages.
