Duties:

RBS Securities Inc. (RBSSI) seeks a Director, Distressed Debt Trading for its Stamford, CT location.

Duties: Sell-side market-making in Credit, including identifying and assessing potential financial transactions across a broad range of distressed corporate debt. Utilize expertise in the bankruptcy process and its effect on securities pricing to price and manage associated risk exposure, focusing on the Energy, Financials, Monolines, and Paper company sectors. Analyze the IG, HY, Equity, Rates, and Commodities markets’ effect on the Bank’s product, as well as clients’ portfolios and liquidity needs. Based on analysis and interpretation of complex financial information regarding distressed securities in the context of current fixed income credit markets, determine whether particular financial transactions are advisable for institutional clients. Make markets on Credit Default Swaps (CDS), including pricing and managing risk. Using innovative methodologies, including complex risk modeling and analysis, develop and deliver high quality investment strategies to clients and to senior management at the Company and directly oversee the origination, restructuring and execution of financial transactions. Utilize Excel to build advanced risk models to price and asses Credit Derivative risk, to predict future cash flows of companies (including those in bankruptcy) and to develop forward financial statements and valuations. Build and manage relationships with members of the Distressed Debt community and institutional clients, and work closely with sales staff and senior management to promote communication and cooperation within the business. Ensure that all financial transactions within the distressed debt sector are conducted in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements, and identify and escalate any risk issues, including issues involving compliance and suitability, to senior management. Identify any compliance risks within trading systems and will work with internal operations teams to rectify these problems.

Requirements

Requirements: Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or related and 3 years of experience in the position offered or a related Distressed Debt Trading role. Full term of experience must involve sell-side market-making in Credit, including identifying and assessing potential financial transaction opportunities across a broad range of distressed corporate debt; utilizing expertise in the bankruptcy process and its effect on securities pricing to price and manage associated risk exposure, focusing on the Energy, Financials, and Paper company sectors; analyzing the IG, HY, Equity, Rates, and Commodities markets’ effect on the Bank’s product, as well as clients’ portfolios and liquidity needs; making markets on CDS, including pricing and managing risk; utilizing Excel to build advanced risk models to price and asses Credit Derivative risk, to predict future cash flows of companies (including those in bankruptcy), and to develop forward financial statements and valuations; and managing relationships with members of the Distressed Debt community. Series 7 & 63 licenses are required.
