GENERAL DESCRIPTION : Oversee overall management, operations, development and growth of Respite Services; develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high quality and safe programs.
Oversee direction, development and growth of Respite Services; develop, update and implement Respite Camp objectives, policies and procedures.
Responsible for on-site and off-site daily operation of Respite Camp activities, providing leadership to ensure safety and program quality, maintaining all health codes and ACA standards.
Recruit, screen, hire, train and supervise seasonal Respite Camp staff for weekends and summer programs, maintaining a high number and quality of seasonal staff to maximize the number of campers and families served.
Develop and monitor Respite Department budget including AmeriCorps (AC), code bills/receipts and income, and ensure accuracy of monthly financial statements.
Recruit, develop and train one - two seasonal administrative staff to assist with and assume duties in absence of Director, Respite Services.
In conjunction with AC Coordinator, responsible for overall AC member (Respite Apprentices) recruitment, training, and supervision, maintaining accountability for member experience and retention. Work closely with (AC) Volunteer Coordinator to maximize participation and effective use of volunteers.
Monitor all aspects of AC program at Respite Camp to ensure compliance with AC program plans and grant requirements.
Supervise Respite Nursing Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator.
Coordinate recruitment of Respite campers; oversee registration, assessment and evaluation of participants.
Work with parents and caregivers to ensure good communication and safety and quality of Respite services.
Work with public and private agencies on development, coordination, and marketing of Respite activities.
Serve as liaison to Marketing Department to promote Respite Services and develop materials; review, update and monitor weekly Marketing task list with regard to Respite services.
Represent Easter Seals Wisconsin (ESW) within professional organizations and committees that serve individuals with disabilities, as required.
Assist in developing plan for AmeriCorps Respite program and grant proposals, including program expansion.
Participate in ESW public relations and special events, Camp fundraising events, Camp & Respite Committee of the Board, and related activities as required.
Support the duties of the VP, Program Development and President/CEO as appropriate and necessary.
Main office at Respite Camp in Wisconsin Dells.
Live on Camp grounds; housing provided.
Weekend and evening commitments on a regular basis, including some overnights.
On-call 24 hours during Respite sessions year-round.
Work in Easter Seals state office in Madison as possible and necessary during non-summer period: one day/week, as benchmark.
B.A. in therapeutic recreation, special education or related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 – 5 years experience in camping field, with people with physical and cognitive disabilities and challenging behavioral issues.
Supervisory experience required, with emphasis on team building and leadership.
Experience with staff recruitment and training.
Experience in budget development and monitoring of income and expenses.
Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and evenings.
Ability to work effectively with the public and with parents/caregivers.
Good written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills.
Ability to lift a 75 pound individual and transfer safely.
Possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of good driving record.
Member, or ability to qualify as a member, of American Camp Association.
