The Director of Event Management is responsible for providing results oriented leadership in the development and creation of an event management team serving as a central resource for the coordination of all on campus services which includes lodging, catering, and event space. The individual's objectives will be to assist all University departments in planning and executing their on-campus events, and to identify and maximize all potential revenue opportunities for the University from external customers' use of University event facilities. The Director will be responsible for formulating long and short term revenue management strategies, develop and implement strategic marketing and advertising plans and provide detailed analysis of projected and actual revenues generated with the intention of meeting goals established by budgetary objectives and guidelines.
The Director of Event Management will be the primary coordinator to work with the University community and external clients to schedule all meeting, conference and event needs into the appropriate campus facilities. The individual will provide direction to the Director, Bureau of Conferences and the General Manager, Connors Family Retreat & Conference Center.
*Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing and or hospitality management.
*A minimum of ten years of progressive marketing/sales, operations management and supervisory experience in a high volume hotel/university venue with a proven track record of success.
*Superior quantitative, oral and written communications and problem solving/strategizing skills.
*Demonstrated track record of pursing new accounts on a consistent basis and developing long term business relationships.
*Excellent technology skills with advanced knowledge of excel, and powerpoint.
*Demonstrated high degree of judgment, problem solving and resourcefulness.
*Proven customer service/interpersonal relation skills.
*Ability to organize, conceptualize and prioritize objectives.
*Master's degree, and knowledge of EBMS or similar event management system is a plus.
